Wednesday - Chinchero Weaving Coop

We had a wonderful day visiting the weaving coop and the ruins of Moray.

These women are spinning the wool onto spindles

She has the traditional waist weaving setup

This blanket would cost around $1300 and take a little less than a year to produce considering the whole process.

This is how longer pieces are woven. They toss the ball of yarn back and forth.

All of the dyes are from natural sources. This one is from a bug in the same family as the ladybug.

Smaller waist looms. Women can weave while shepherding livestock and with their babies on their backs.

For most of dying process, boiling is necessary.

Maddie Castle, so glad you got to meet and work with this village. We have one of their table runners. Such nice people. Getting ready to snow here.
Love reading your adventure and seeing your picture.
